Mariia Raskin
Mariia Raskin is an impressionist painter based in Turkey.
“I create landscapes and seascapes using a palette knife, building up bold, textured layers of acrylic on canvas. I use brushes only for the smallest details. My style blends impressionism with expressive energy, I want each painting to feel vibrant, full of movement, and created in a single breath. At the same time, I often take a more philosophical approach by weaving elements of symbolism and abstraction into my work. These paintings invite deeper reflection and allow the viewer to find personal meaning. Sometimes I build the base layer with collage, adding texture and dimension to the final piece. Nature is my endless source of inspiration, especially its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. I paint to preserve the emotional impression left by those fleeting moments of beauty.”

About her studio, Marria says “I absolutely love my creative studio! It’s quite small and, to be honest, scattered in different corners of our apartment to save space. The main part is what you see in the photo: a dedicated corner in our bedroom with an easel, paint tables, and a professional daylight lamp. This is where I paint on canvas. Its compactness is actually a plus - I don’t even have to stand up to grab a tube of paint. Everything is within arm’s reach. The downside is that I’m limited in size: the largest canvas I can work with here is 140 x 100 cm. The second part of my studio is in office room - it’s my desk for sketches and works on paper. I pin reference photos and anatomical drawings on the wall above for inspiration. The third part is in the living room, where I store completed artworks.”
