Artist Q & A:

How has your multicultural background influenced your art style?

I come from a traditional Asian family, with Vietnamese, Cambodian and Chinese roots. I grew up in the suburbs of Paris, France and I was always surrounded by diverse communities and ethnicities (Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian, Moroccan, Algerian, Tunisian, Senegalese, Congolese) that allow me to learn, deepen my knowledge about different cultures, food, traditions, languages and embrace diversity.

Your signature style includes bold colours and pattern, has this always been the case and can you share what draws you to this?

I’m inspired by patterns and calligraphy from all over the world, inviting me to explore a mosaic of cultures. Bold eye-catching, vibrant colours and high contrasts are powerful and energising. Using these colours is a way to stand out from the crowd and push boundaries. Bold colours is an invitation to make bold choices in life, and embrace your gift. I love to paint ethnic patterns because they are not merely decorative elements but they reflect the history, traditions, culture and beliefs of the country. Patterns are symbolic and meaningful, bringing cultural richness and celebrating heritage, from tradition to modernity.
