Isabel Paget
Isabel Paget has a multidisciplinary practice that tests the thresholds of temporality, tension, and transformation. Growing up with an intuitive fascination for the interplay of permanence and ephemerality, she has consistently sought to unravel the complexities of the human experience through material, concept, and form.
She says, “Time is elastic. It stretches, fragments, and accumulates, shaped by human perception and disrupted by the relentless rhythms of technological progress. My work interrogates these forces, offering a space to confront the psychological and societal tensions of an age defined by acceleration, transformation, and rupture.”
“Informed by theories of non-linearity and temporality, I explore tension as a multidimensional phenomenon—physical, psychological, and societal. My practice is rooted in materiality and metaphor, drawing parallels between the elasticity of physical structures and the fragility of human psychology.”
“My process is iterative and research-driven, and materials become conduits for exploring the tensions between permanence and flux. Glass, resin, and stereolithographic prints reveal layers of temporal and conceptual depth. Interactivity remains central to my practice; by turning a globe in Time Crystal or engaging with motorized elements in Time Blind, viewers become participants in the work’s evolving narrative, embodying the very tensions I seek to expose.”
