“As an African-born woman and former refugee, I deeply connect with each figure in my paintings. The figures represent both beauty and the struggles inherent in their unsung stories of resilience. Their voices are expressed through their thoughts, styles, ethnicities, and shapes.”
About her studio she shares “My favourite thing about my studio is how it feels like an extension of both myself and my home. Bathed in natural light streaming through wide windows, the space inspires creativity with warmth and openness. It’s compact yet filled with vitality - decorative papers and paints are always within arm’s reach, surrounding me with endless inspiration. I love that it’s a space where art can live and breathe, where works in progress are left as they are, open to evolution. Without a door, it flows seamlessly into the rest of the house, allowing the creative energy to weave into our daily lives. My family often pauses to observe, turning my studio into a living gallery—a place of connection and inspiration.”
